The Inca’s supreme being and creator god, Con Tici (Kon Tiki) Viracocha, first created a race of giants, but they were unruly, so he destroyed them in a mighty flood and turned them to stone. Following the deluge, he created human beings from smaller stones.
In other versions of this story, the impious race is the pre-Inca civilization of the Tiahuanaco Indians about Lake Titicaca, the large high lake in the Andes. A flood account from the Americas. Akin to a couple of other stories in this list, I am currently unable to find any direct transcripts, but from the information provided, we can see from a glance, the similarities to the Noah account.
We should note, that this story predates any Christian missionary interactions in the Americas, and so we can safely assume that this tale is not a result of foreign influence or religious preaching. The suggested date of origin is the 1300s C.E, but it is possible the story goes back even further in oral histories, given its similarities to other flood accounts.
Of the details in both versions of these Inca stories, we see things akin to the Jewish story:
- A race of evil giants rebelled against God
- Mankind had reached an immoral height
- God sent a flood to punish the evil giants or people
- A wooden ark saved a small group
- The human race is created or reset
